A few weeks ago Chris's boss, LTC Vam Vakias, called me to see if I'd be willing to co-lead the FRG (Family Readiness Group) with my friend, Meagan Condrey. Meagan's husband, Jay, works with Chris. The FRG's main responsibility is providing communication and support to soldiers and their family members. Of course there are lots of other roles of the FRG-- like organizing fund-raising opportunities for the unit, toy drives for the children, meals for soldiers around the holidays, support for wounded soldiers, etc. So far we haven't had to do anything outside of attending several (rather intimidating) meetings. Lucky for me, Meagan is a lawyer and way smarter than I am so I think I have this in the bag! ;) Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that we stay in the unit for the exact same amount of time!

Wish us luck!
I'll say a little prayer for you that you leave at the same time as well! What a huge responsibility...but I can't think of anyone I would love to have as my FRG leader more!
ReplyDeleteYou are fun, a great listener, and have a great sense of humor. All perfect qualities to have in a person involved in the FRG.
You're just the person I'd want on a team too. Congrats and enjoy!
