Cape Hatteras, part 2...

One evening while we were at the beach we decided to make a bonfire…
Eagle Scouts definitely come in handy :)
"Will it work??"
Yes!
Smiles from the crowd.

With the gentle breeze and sound of the waves (and Ben Howard music Chris brought), I think we could have camped out at the beach all night long.  Of course, roasting marshmallows and eating s'mores helped too...
The next afternoon we went across the street (literally) to check out the Sound-side of the island.  It was amazing in an entirely new way.  For as far out as we walked, it only came up to our ankles or mid-calves.  It was like an ENORMOUS baby pool but with cool sea life for the boys to discover.  I wish I could have somehow picked it up and brought it closer to Fayetteville because it's a place I would take the boys constantly...
There were tons of fish and clams and shells.  We had so much fun finding it all!
Megan, Henry, and Pete exploring...
So far out and yet still so shallow.

It was so relaxing to let the kids
play, without concern of waves knocking them down!
Henry and his collection
James exploring...

"What did you find!?"
It's almost as if each new activity we did became our favorite.  But this really was my favorite.  Okay, maybe it's a tie between our time at the Sound and our bonfire night… :)
Daddy and his boys.  I love this picture.
These three beautiful, happy faces are what made it SO very hard to leave...

I am not exaggerating when I say we loved every minute of being at the beach with our family.  I hate that Hurricane Arthur shooed us out a few days early and hope we can return again next summer to enjoy the beach all over again!

About Me

My photo
I am a stay-at-home mom to 3 energetic, funny, sweet, and crazy boys. I married my best friend, Chris, and love our life together. The Army is sending him overseas soon so I thought this blog would be a great way for him (and the grandparents!) to keep up with our hectic life. Unfortunately the Army keeps us too far from family and most of our friends so hopefully this will help us stay connected.
